Located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, Merredin College commenced in 2012 as a result of the amalgamation of three schools including Merredin Senior High School, South Merredin Primary School (along with the Westonia Annexe) and North Merredin Primary School. Initially on three sites, students moved to the Merredin College site at the end of Term 1 2012 when the building programme was completed.
The Merredin College building program included the provision of new primary buildings equipped with modern technologies including interactive whiteboards as well as the refurbishment of existing structures. These contemporary classrooms and landscaped grounds are unparalleled in many rural communities and provide students with stimulating areas in which to learn and play.
Sections:
Primary (Kindergarten – Year 6)
Lower Secondary (Year 7 – Year 10)
Senior Secondary (Year 11 – Year 12)
Facilities: Your child will have access to contemporary facilities, purpose-built to optimise student learning and which provide teachers with a quality teaching environment.
Students in the primary years enjoy learning in state-of-the-art classrooms equipped with smart boards, iPods, iPads, notebook and stand-alone computers and high speed wireless internet. Multi-purpose areas for activities such as art and cooking plus a superb music room complement these learning areas.
Outside, beautifully landscaped grounds include shaded lawn areas for students. A large oval and three tennis courts provide your child with many options for being active. Students in the primary years have access to specialised climbing equipment designed to promote the development of gross motor skills. Students can also take advantage of the large gymnasium fitted out with fitness equipment.
Extra-Curricular: Merredin College offers a set of varied co-curricular activities which complement the academic program and cater for the overall development of our students. By providing these learning experiences we embrace some of the cross-curriculum priorities through our sustainability focus in the primary area of the school.
