The College is a co-educational day and boarding school situated in Forbes, which is located in the Central Western region of New South Wales. Prior to 1977, the Catholic education of students in this region was provided by three secondary schools; Our Lady of Mercy College, Forbes; Our Lady of Mercy High School, Parkes; and Marist Brothers’ College, Forbes.
In February 1977, these three schools combined to form one co-educational High School, with the name of Red Bend Catholic College, at the site of the former Marist Brothers’ College, on the banks of the Lachlan River. This merger, as symbolised on the College Crest, brought together the great teaching traditions of the Mercy Sisters and the Marist Brothers.
Principal: Mr. Stephen Dwyer
Boarding: The boarding unit at Red Bend Catholic College provides accommodation and care for girls and boys in Years 7 -12. Boarders come to the College from country areas throughout New South Wales and regional areas from other states.
The boarding unit adds great richness and diversity to the life of the school, and provides boarders with a wide range of choices and opportunities that may not be available in rural areas or in smaller country schools.
When students come to Red Bend Catholic College, they join a family where an inclusive community and grounded culture create a sense of belonging. Respect for our Marist / Mercy heritage and a spirit of service and social justice encourages College students to become valuable contributors to their communities.
Boarding Facilities: Our boarding facilities are continually being updated to meet the changing needs of the students. The residence areas are equipped with single private rooms for each student and large gathering areas where students can relax, read and watch television. There are full kitchens in each residence where the students breakfast, have afternoon tea and supper and can cook in their recreational time. Washing facilities are available in each residence in addition to our commercial onsite laundry. All residences have full internet service.
Sport: The College is equipped with a broad range of sporting facilities and students can play a variety of sport including Hockey, Tennis, Rugby League, Athletics, Swimming, Rugby Union, Netball, Touch Football and many more. Red Bend Catholic College students regularly represent both the school and the Diocese at Regional and State sporting championships.
